General Market Outlook
The market made significant gains over the past 24 hours, but most recently lost most of that to a strong downward trend. Coins are split between positive and negative gains, and trading volume has remained between $15 billion and $16 billion in 24 hours. Revain (R) and ChainLink (LINK) are the major stand outs of the top 100 coins by market cap - up over 29% and 11% respectively in the past 24 hours. The value of Bitcoin (BTC) is just under $3,850 for -1.5% and a total market dominance of 51.5%, and the value of Ethereum (ETH) is right around $150 for -2.5?% change in the past 24 hours. Market cap for the overall cryptocurrency market declined $3 billion, rising to over $135 billion, but now settling back around $130 billion total.
New EU Regulated Exchange - Dx.Exchange
Back in May of this year, it was announced that NASDAQ was working with a company to develop a top of the line digital asset exchange platform. Dx.Exchange is now finally ready to launch on January 7th. The platform has the ability to work with tokenized assets, and is focusing on giving greater flexibility to trading traditional stocks through tokenization. The exchange is the first non-CFD crypto exchange to offer stock trading that are tokenized on a blockchain. Publicly traded companies like Google, Facebook, Intel and Apple will be listed on DX.exchange. Government in Thailand Developing Blockchain Voting
The government of Thailand government has created a blockchain-based solution that will bring their voting process to the digital age. Thailand’s National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC) has a working system and is seeking for trial partners in local governments or places like universities. Voting using a blockchain system has been trial in several places around the world showing strong benefits for accessibility, identity verification, transparency and consistency. “Nectec developed blockchain technology for e-voting that can be applied to national, provincial or community elections, as well as business votes such as the board of directors. The goal is to reduce fraud and maintain data integrity.” - Chalee Vorakulpipat, head of the cybersecurity laboratory at NECTEC.
Hackers Seek BTC For 9/11 Leaks
A group of hackers that refer to themselves as TheDarkOverlord has been using Twitter to post threats to the government in the U.S. about information regarding the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The group claims to have used a security breach to gain classified and unreleased information about the event, and they are seeking Bitcoin as payment for the ransom. The group claims to have gained access to thousands of documents from insurance firms such as Lloyds of London, Silverstein Properties, and Hiscox Syndicates.
