General Market Outlook

 

The market has steady positive growth over the past 24 hours. Most coins are showing positive growth, with some minor coins showing very extreme percentage gains, while trading volume has remained high, between $29 billion and $30 billion in 24 hours. Kin (KIN), Maximine Coin (MXM) and Ravencoin (RVN) are the major stand outs of the top 100 coins by market cap - up over 20%, 17%  and 15% respectively in the past 24 hours. The value of Bitcoin (BTC) is right at $4,050 for +1.0% and a total market dominance of staying steady at 50.8%, and the value of Ethereum (ETH) is trending right around $150 for +0.5% change in the past 24 hours. Market cap for the overall cryptocurrency market gained  $1 billion, rising to almost $141 billion total.

Mt. Gox CEO Found Guilty - Again

 

Mt. Gox was the first premier Bitcoin exchange. However, the exchange has now become more widely known for scandal and the recurring issues with money laundering associated with the exchange. The CEO, Mark Karpeles, has been involved in a number of court cases where individuals and private companies have brought such charges against him.“Mt. Gox did not collapse because of the defendant’s [Karpeles’] wrongdoing. On the contrary, the defendant was trying his hardest every day to prevent its collapse.” W- Wall Street Journal Report. The hole seems to be getting deeper and deeper as most recently CEO of the defunct company has now been found guilty of using about $3 million of customers’ funds for his own personal use. “I never imagined things would end this way and I am forever sorry for everything that’s taken place and all the effect it had on everyone involved.” - Karpeles

 

Mozilla COO Goes Crypto

 

The previous Chief Operating Officer of Mozilla, the company behind widely used internet browser Firefox has joined a new cryptocurrency focused start up. Denelle Dixon has now taken a major role as a member of the Stellar Development Foundation as the new CEO of the nonprofit organization. The group focuses on gaining funding and spreading awareness for the capabilities of the Stellar Lumens (XLM) cryptocurrency network. Previous CEO was Jed McCaleb, who is now the chief architect, where he can focus on protocol growth and adoption strategies, understanding that their new CEO comes with “long experience leading operations and business at Mozilla, as well as her work on the policy side, with advocacy around Open Internet and encryption and privacy, will be indispensable to SDF in the coming years.”

A new start up will be competing with the many companies providing prepaid debit cards that can be funded with cryptocurrencies. Recently Crypto.com (CRM) has shown huge gains on their market cap, and this is potentially a sign for the overall niche of their cryptocurrency market.2gether customers will be able to load their Visa debit cards with bitcoin (BTC), ether (ETH), XRP, bitcoin cash (BCH), EOS, Stellar (XLM) and litecoin (LTC).
